I’ve found myself in Annandale on a few Saturday mornings recently, needing coffee and calories. Having still not made it to Booth Street Bistro for dinner, the opportunity for a trial breakfast run seemed like a good plan. So we settled into a booth and revived ourselves with a round of decent coffees with beans from Single Origin Roasters.
Eggs Benedict with bacon ($15.50) hit the spot: creamy egg, sweet bacon and a perfectly sharp hollandaise bringing me straight back into the living world. Corn fritters ($14.50) were served with a sweet tomato and pepper jam and a satisfyingly runny poached egg. It was impossible to resist the temptation of the Suckling Pig Hash ($14.50): the gooey combination of pork and potato bursting with flavour far beyond what the plate promises.
With friendly service and the best brunch in Annandale (from a non-exhaustive sample), Booth Street Bistro certainly passed the breakfast trial run. Now to work out when to return for dinner.
